Rivera Rockcrusher vs. Dr Z Air brake. Tags amps attenuators recording. One of the things I like about the Rock crusher is it has a line out which makes it ideal for my current recording setup. Micing amps is not possible for me right now and I really don''t like a lot of the digital amp modellers. However I have heard that the Z Brake has a

The bottom line is this; the Rivera RockCrusher gives you the ability to take advantage of your power tubes at home and not just your pre-amp tubes in my opinion. Because I am able to distort my power tubes I love the enhanced quality I get in my chord playing when I''m thumping out some Lazy Lester, John Lee Hooker, etc.
Here''s the question: does the Rivera RockCrusher Recording power attenuator come in a product box? I''m asking because I just bought one new from an on-line dealer, but it didn''t come in a product box and is missing its power cord. So, I''m trying to figure out if this dealer is just selling me a returned or demo model and charging me full price.
41. Mar 6, 2016. #8. Well, the Rockcrusher was hooked up backwards. This was due to two main issues: 1. Poor instructions that came with the unit 2. A video by Paul Rivera Junior trying to help folks with hookup issues, but basically showing them how to hook it up backwards.
Meh. Nothing really new, just a new attenuator to enter the market. It''s a bit funny the claim he made about the Rock Crusher being the only switchable impedance attenuator on the market today. He obviously didn''t research the Aracom or Faustine attenuators. Another thing he mentioned about an impedance mismatch with an 8 ohm…

- There''s an asymmetrical and a symmetrical (XLR) output on the RockCrusher. You can dial in the adequate output level by using the Line Out Level knob in the front of the unit.
The Rivera Rock Crusher has a power handling capacity of about 120W RMS, and an impedance of 8/16 ohms. The input channelizes in the form of 1*1/4” of the amplifier; and the output is in the unit of 2*1/4” measured from the speaker output, and from the line out in 1*XLR, 1*1/4”.
Rivera RockCrusher Power Attenuator The RockCrusher is invaluable and unbeatably versatile because you can place it between your amp and speaker cab as a power attenuator, or use it in place of your speaker cabinet as a load box while sending its balanced XLR or unbalanced 1/4" line out to anoth...
A Rock Crusher+Radial JDX would run you $700 as well. This isn''t a big price increase at all, for what it does. It''s also MIA, which is saying something, IMO. The real question is whether or not you need an attenuator+speaker emulation, or if you need just a load+emulation.
I''m interested in the Rock Crusher as well. I cannot answer the OP question but wanted to throw this in with reference to using an attenuator with an amp that already has a MV. I use a THD HotPlate with a VHT Deliverance D120 that has a great master volume but the amp doesn''t start producing the ''Magic'' until you get it above 10 o''clock on the

Rivera gave the RockCrusher an 8/16-ohm selector switch so you can use either value to accurately match your cabinets and amplifiers. Additional features that ensure the Rock Crusher is easy to use both onstage and in the studio include a front-panel bypass switch that lets you use the amp with a speaker cabinet when full output level is desired.

Rivera Amplification has announced the 50th Golden Anniversary RockCrusher Power Attenuator, celebrating 50 years since Paul Rivera began modifying amps in his shop in New York City. As per the original purple model, the golden RockCrusher can be used between an amp and speaker cab, or used in place of a speaker cab as a load box.
Doesn''t matter at that point how much the attenuator affects the line out because you are getting it right off the amp. The highs and mids stay intact. Around 180$ I think? bang for your buck. You don''t need to spend anymore. The rock crusher is still a great attenuator, you just don''t like the line out. so here is your solution.

Rivera designed and built the RockCrusher to maintain your tone. Built into the RockCrusher is a reactive load network for proper speaker-amplifier interaction. Rather than a purely resistive load like many other power attenuators, the Rock Crusher ensures that the amplifier and speaker see each other in a proper relationship of impedance and
